Anti Ragging Act

Anti-Ragging Policy (Order date:- 16 Feb 2007)

The University Grants Commission (UGC), New Delhi, in compliance with the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India (Order dated 16.05.2007), has mandated strict implementation of rules and regulations to prevent and prohibit ragging in technical institutions.

Institutions must adopt exemplary and harsh disciplinary actions against students indulging in or abetting ragging to act as a deterrent.
Mandatory Action: - Filing of FIR for every single incident of ragging by the institution with the local police.

Students found guilty by the Anti-Ragging Committee may face one or more of the following:

  1. Cancellation of admission
  2. Suspension from attending classes
  3. Withholding or withdrawal of scholarship/fellowship/benefits
  4. Debarment from exams or evaluation processes
  5. Withholding of results
  6. Debarment from representing institution in any events
  7. Suspension or expulsion from the hostel
  8. Rustication from the institution (1 to 4 semesters)
  9. Expulsion from institution and barred from future admissions
  10. Fine of ₹25,000/-
  11. Collective punishment, when culprits are unidentified
  • Institutions must report all incidents and actions taken to AICTE.
  • Updates on the case status must be shared in a timely manner.
